IF THERE WAS NO OTHERS

If there was no others
what would be the reason to love?
None but an impulse.
That is reason enough.

An impulse is a heart beat -
from which stems hope ;
or is it hope from which
originates a heart beat?

If there was no others
what would be the reason to create?
None but inspiration.
That is reason enough.

Inspiration is a mouthful of air –
From which stems fertility ;
or is it fertility from which
originates a mouthful of air?

If there was no others
what would be the reason to believe?
None but a calling.
That is reason enough.

A calling is the pulse of our wings –
From which stems awareness ;
or is it awareness from which
originates the pulse of our wings?

Without reason for loving –
without reason for creating -
without reason for believing -
you can invent a story.

A story in which you could conceive
of a boat so to reach an island,
where a woman, a man or a nation, having dreamt about you,
will want to share its love, its belief and its work with yours.
